Bee Pest Control

Pollination is an essential process vital for the growth and yield of crops and plants, with bees serving as crucial pollinators. However, it's crucial to understand that different bee species exhibit varying behaviors and characteristics, which can impact human safety, especially when sharing spaces.

A notable example is the Africanized Honey Bee species, often dubbed as "killer bees." Sadly, these bees have emerged as an invasive species in numerous regions, renowned for their heightened aggression, even in the absence of provocation. They have a tendency to infiltrate other bee colonies and, in some instances, form formidable swarms characterized by their large size and aggressiveness. This behavior poses significant challenges for individuals residing in areas where these bees have established their hives, raising concerns for human safety.

Having bees on your property can be a frightening experience, especially if they swarm or make loud buzzing noises when you leave your home. Bees can often establish their nests in a variety of places, such as under picnic tables, in children's play areas, under steps, inside garden tool containers or grill covers, under decks, and on the edge of garages. They are skilled at finding ledges to build their hives, and if not stopped, they can continue building on their hive for several years.

Bees can quickly take over a space, making you and your family feel unsafe. They may initially appear as just a few buzzing around, but since bees are commonly seen in nature, you may not realize that they have set up a hive so close to your living areas or outdoor recreational spaces. Sometimes, they may just be passing through while swarming to a new location, but other times they have established a hive and will require removal along with any honey to prevent the bees from returning.

When dealing with the removal of a beehive, it's crucial to entrust the task to trained professionals with expertise in safely handling and eliminating them. Avoid risking your safety and property by attempting DIY methods. Don't let bees invade your home or business – contact us today!

Wasp Nest Removal

Wasps, unlike bees, do not primarily feed on pollen. Instead, these slender insects play a crucial role in controlling other insect populations, making them beneficial for gardens and homes across America. However, they often form colonies and can become a nuisance, particularly when they build nests in inconvenient locations, such as near entryways or outdoor seating areas.

They tend to gather in groups and construct paper nests on structures like patio ceilings and deck railings. Due to their defensive nature, approaching their nests can result in painful stings. Dealing with a wasp infestation should not be taken lightly, and depending on the size of the nest and the number of wasps present, professional removal services may be necessary. It's important to note that wasps typically only attack humans when they feel threatened and are not actively seeking to sting.

Contrary to popular belief, there are over 100,000 species of wasps worldwide. In our region, numerous wasp varieties exist, including the recognizable yellow jacket wasp with its distinct yellow and black stripes. Additionally, mud dauber wasps, characterized by their slender waists and mud-built nests, are prevalent. Lastly, the formidable paper wasp, known for its aggressive nature, requires cautious handling.

In the state of Florida, various types of bees and wasps can be found, including:

  1. European Honey Bees (Apis mellifera): These bees are commonly kept for honey production and pollination services. They are known for their distinctive honeycomb nests and are generally non-aggressive unless provoked.
  2. Africanized Honey Bees (Apis mellifera scutellata): Also known as "killer bees," Africanized honey bees are a hybrid of African and European honey bees. They are more aggressive than their European counterparts and have earned a reputation for their defensive behavior.
  3. Carpenter Bees (Xylocopa spp.): Carpenter bees are solitary bees known for nesting in wood structures, such as eaves, decks, and fences. While the males may exhibit territorial behavior, they are generally not aggressive towards humans.
  4. Bumblebees (Bombus spp.): Bumblebees are robust, fuzzy bees that are important pollinators of many crops and wildflowers. They typically nest underground or in grassy areas and are not aggressive unless threatened.
  5. Paper Wasps (Polistes spp.): Paper wasps are common in Florida and are known for their distinctive papery nests. While they can be defensive of their nests, they are generally less aggressive than yellow jackets.
  6. Yellow Jackets (Vespula spp. and Dolichovespula spp.): Yellow jackets are aggressive wasps that build nests in the ground, in wall voids, or in other sheltered locations. They are known for their painful stings and can pose a threat to humans, especially when disturbed.
